Residential Garage Door Installations
K and S Door Systems proudly provides residential garage door installation services for folks throughout Fort Worth and much of the greater Dallas area.
Curious about our garage doors or our installation service? We have all the answers you could need. Feel free to browse through our FAQ section below, and please reach out to us if you still have any questions — we’re here to help.
Our Garage Door Installation FAQ
Most garage door installations can be performed within a day, except for larger, multi-door projects. Expect to have a few of our crew members at your house for three to six hours for most installation projects. If you’d like to get a better estimate of how long your specific project will take, don’t hesitate to give us a call — we’d be happy to let you know when we’ll be at your home and how long your installation will take. We can also work around your schedule if you’ll need to keep access to your garage available at specific periods throughout the day.
Garage door pricing will vary from door to door, and installation time (and pricing) will vary depending on the type of door being installed, the location of the installation, the size of the door (or doors), and other factors. If you’d like to get a quote for your project, we’d be happy to provide you with an estimate — just give us a call.
Installing a garage door yourself may prove dangerous. Garage doors are heavy and, if you’re installing a spring-operated door, the spring can be dangerous if installed incorrectly.
Moreover, you may void your warranty if your door is installed by someone who is not a professional. We’ve partnered with a variety of manufacturers so that we can offer protective warranties that provide coverage against damage and parts failures (you can read more about our manufacturers and warranties below).
Plus, hiring a professional will ensure that your garage is installed properly, the first time. Any misalignment along the tracks can cause a premature failure of the garage door, and the door may derail completely while it’s in use. Beyond that, your door may not close tightly, which can lead to a poor seal around the frame of the door; a poor seal can result in higher energy bills as your home’s heating and cooling systems struggle to keep your home comfortable.
When you call on K & S Door Systems for an installation, you can trust that we have the right tools, the experience, and the training necessary to ensure that your door is installed properly and efficiently. Plus, all of our field technicians have endured extensive education, including 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA training.
We carry a variety of door styles, each of which has its own unique look and characteristics. We can install steel panel garage doors, carriage house-style garage doors, custom wood garage doors, and full vision garage doors.
Steel Panel Doors
Steel panel doors have long been the standard for homes across the nation. Available in a variety of designs, these doors are affordable and utilitarian, yet you can select a look that fits well with your home. We carry a variety of steel panel doors which work along an overhead track system (which can be run with a motorized operator). We offer a variety of design options, including short- and long-panel designs, as well as flush-panel designs. Plus, you can opt to purchase doors that have better insulation for climate and noise control.
Carriage House Doors
Folks tend to flock to these doors for their old-fashioned look. Carriage house-style doors mimic old carriage house doors which swing outward from hinges at their sides. Most models feature two doors which swing out from the center of the garage door bay (like a double door). These doors are ideal for those who are looking to save space while keeping their garages clean (since you don’t need a bulky overhead motor). You can still install an operator to automatically open and close carriage house doors. We also carry a variety of accordion-style doors that have multiple hinges, making it possible to span wider garage door bays.
Custom Wood Garage Doors
For those who love the natural aesthetic of wood, you’ll love our custom wood garage doors. We offer wooden garage doors that can be created to your specifications. Plus, these doors can be configured to be carriage house-style doors (swinging doors), or overhead doors (which operate along a track mounted overhead) like the steel panel doors noted above. Give your home added character and appeal with a custom wood garage door.
Full Vision Garage Doors
For more open, attractive garage spaces, you’ll love our full vision garage doors. These doors feature see-through panels or full frameless designs, both of which allow natural light to come through from the outside. You can find transparent or semi-transparent models, lending either privacy or complete openness to your garage space. Our full vision doors can also be mounted to an overhead track with a motor operator, for your convenience.
Garage doors require periodic maintenance to ensure that the components don’t wear out prematurely and to keep the operator (the motorized component) running smoothly. We recommend that you have your garage door serviced regularly to ensure that you don’t lose longevity in your door and its components. Have your door inspected for misalignments, operator faults, and spring quality (if your door operates with a torsion spring). You should also have the various moving components cleaned and lubricated.
We recommend that homeowners have their garage doors inspected and maintained every year at the least. If you use your door more often or your door is in an environment that is filled with dust and debris (like a carpentry workshop), then you may need to have service performed more often. Reach out to us to get a more accurate recommended maintenance interval for your garage door and its use.
While cleaning and lubrication can be performed, it’s best not to work on any components that may prove dangerous. Your garage door is heavy, and if you have a torsion-spring operated garage door, it can be hazardous to work with the spring. If you aren’t comfortable cleaning or maintaining your garage door and its components, call on us. We provide maintenance plans and inspections alongside our other residential garage door services.
Like the deck in your backyard, if you have a wooden garage door it will require maintenance. You will have to refinish the surface of your door every few years to ensure that it remains protected from the elements. Be mindful of discoloration, cracking, and peeling. Clean your garage door and apply a fresh coat of stain as is recommended by the door manufacturer. In addition, you should follow the instructions listed on the stain that you select for your wooden garage door.
Most of our doors are backed by warranties covering various components of the door, as well as the door itself. Our warranties may cover the panels, hardware, springs, operator, and paint or stain of a garage door, among other components.. Take note, our warranties may vary depending on the manufacturer and the door or components under protection. Reach out to us if you’re curious about the warranty of a particular door or part.
We work with a variety of manufacturers, including those that provide both residential and commercial garage doors and garage door parts. We’ve partnered with all of the following manufacturers:
